Privacy & Safety Policy

How Librancy handles your family's information — including exactly what happens when your child uses our AI tools.

Last updated: 31 July 2026 · Librancy AI Academy
The short version. Librancy is built for children. We collect the least we can, we never sell your data, we never show your child ads, and we designed our AI tools so that no child's personal information is ever sent to any AI provider. This page explains exactly what we do and the choices you control.

1. Who we are

Librancy AI Academy ("Librancy", "we", "us") is a Nigerian educational platform that teaches children aged 7–15 about artificial intelligence, creativity, and entrepreneurship through filmed lessons and guided practice. This Privacy & Safety Policy explains how we handle personal information when parents and children use our website and platform at librancy.com.

We process personal data in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA) and, where relevant, other applicable data-protection laws for families who use Librancy from outside Nigeria.

2. What we collect

We collect only what we need to run the learning experience and take payment:

From parents / guardians

From or about children (set up by a parent)

What we deliberately do NOT collect from children: home address, precise location, date of birth, school, photographs, contact lists, or any sensitive personal information. We don't need it, so we don't ask for it.

3. Children's data & parental consent

Children do not create their own accounts. A parent or guardian sets up every child profile, and by doing so you confirm you are the child's parent or legal guardian and you consent to Librancy processing your child's learning data as described here.

We treat children's personal data as requiring special protection. We do not knowingly allow a child to share personal information publicly, we do not enable child-to-child or child-to-stranger messaging, and we do not show children any advertising.

As the parent, you can view your child's activity, request a copy of their data, or ask us to delete their profile at any time — see Your rights below.

4. Our AI tools — what happens to your child's prompts

Some Librancy lessons include a guided AI build activity: after a lesson, your child can write a short instruction (a "prompt") for a specific exercise, and our system returns an age-appropriate result they can save as a creation. This is a core part of teaching children to use AI well and safely. Because this involves an AI provider, we want to be completely clear about how it works.

How the AI build activity protects your child:
  • It is a structured learning tool, not an open chatbot. Your child completes a defined exercise — they cannot hold an open-ended conversation, and the AI is instructed never to act as a friend or companion.
  • No personal information about your child is sent to the AI provider. We send only the prompt text for the exercise and the lesson context — never your child's name, PIN, email, or any identifying detail.
  • Every prompt is checked before it is sent, and every response is checked before your child sees it. Both directions are moderated by our systems for safety.
  • We store the prompts and responses so our team can review them for safety and quality. This lets us keep the tool safe; it is not used for advertising.
  • If a child's message suggests they may be in distress or at risk, it is flagged to our team rather than answered automatically.

The AI generations are currently processed by Anthropic (the makers of Claude), acting as our service provider. We send only the exercise prompt and lesson context. We do not permit the content of children's prompts to be used to train external AI models where that option is within our control.

5. How we use information

We do not sell your personal data or your child's personal data to anyone, ever.

6. Who we share with

We share personal data only with trusted service providers who help us run Librancy, and only as far as needed:

We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of a child or another person.

7. How we protect it

We use encryption in transit, hashed passwords and PINs, access controls on our admin systems, and audit logging of sensitive actions. No system is perfectly secure, but we take our duty to protect children's data seriously and work to keep our safeguards current.

8. Your rights under the NDPA

As a data subject (and as the parent acting for your child), you have the right to:

To exercise any of these, email hello@librancy.com. We will respond within a reasonable time and in line with the NDPA. If you believe we have not handled your data properly, you may also contact the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).

9. How long we keep it

We keep account and learning data for as long as your account is active, and for a reasonable period afterwards to meet legal, accounting, and safety obligations. When you ask us to delete a child's profile, we remove the learning data we are not legally required to retain.

10. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Librancy grows or as the law changes. When we make a significant change, we will update the date at the top and, where appropriate, notify you. Continuing to use Librancy after an update means you accept the revised policy.
