1. Our child-safety principles
Everything we build is measured against a few non-negotiable rules:
- No ads, ever. Children see learning, not marketing.
- No strangers. There is no child-to-child or child-to-stranger messaging on Librancy.
- The least data possible. We don't collect a child's surname, address, birth date, or photo.
- A parent is always in control. Only an adult sets up and manages the account.
- Safety is designed in, then checked by people. Automated safeguards do the first pass; our team reviews.
2. Safe accounts & no strangers
Every child profile is created by a parent and protected by a PIN you set. Children can't sign themselves up, can't be contacted by other users, and can't share personal information publicly on Librancy. The platform is a closed learning space, not a social network.
3. How the AI build activity is kept safe
In some lessons, your child practises using AI by writing a short prompt for a specific exercise and getting a result they can save. We know that letting a child interact with AI is exactly where parents want detail, so here it is:
- It is a structured build tool, not an open chatbot. The lesson sets the task; your child writes only the prompt for that task. There's no open-ended conversation and no companionship — the AI is specifically instructed never to present itself as a child's friend.
- Every prompt is checked before it's sent. If a prompt is off-task, unsafe, or contains personal information, our system gently redirects your child and the AI is never called.
- The AI is boxed to the lesson. Behind the scenes, strict instructions keep it on the exercise and forbid unsafe topics, regardless of what is typed.
- Every response is checked before your child sees it. We never show raw AI output on trust.
- No personal information about your child goes to the AI provider — only the exercise prompt and lesson context.
- There are limits. Each child has a daily cap on how much they can generate, and we can pause the whole activity instantly if anything looks wrong.
You can read the data specifics in our Privacy & Safety Policy.
4. Moderation & human oversight
Automated checks run on both the prompts children write and the responses they receive. On top of that, our team can review the activity, hide any saved creation, and adjust or switch off the tool. Sensitive actions in our systems are logged. Safety here is not "set and forget" — it's watched.
5. If a child seems to be struggling
Our systems are designed to notice if something a child writes suggests they may be upset or at risk. In that case, the message is flagged to our team for a human to look at rather than answered automatically, and your child sees a gentle, caring response. We are an education platform, not an emergency service — if you are ever worried about a child's immediate safety, please contact your local emergency services or a trusted child-protection helpline right away.
6. What you control as a parent
- You set up each child's profile and PIN.
- You can see your child's activity and creations in your parent dashboard.
- You can ask us to pause or remove access to the AI activity for your child.
- You can request a copy of, or deletion of, your child's data at any time.
